Zentangle is an American method for drawing, which not only promotes concentration and creativity but at the same time increases personal well-being. Zentangle was invented by a monk named Rick Roberts and an artist named Maria Thomas. With Zentangle they created a combination of meditation and art.
Throughout Year 7 Art students discover and familiarize themselves with the ‘Elements and Principles of Art’. Throughout their Zentangles, students explore how to focus on using the element of Line (both organic and geometric) in a repetitive nature, to create the principle of Pattern. Students could choose any animal like to draw- but had to ensure they only drew the outline and left plenty of space inside for their patterns. They then used fine liners- either coloured or black to include at least 15 patterns within their animal.
